Milton S. Hershey born on Sept. 13, 1857 in Derry Church, Pennsylvannia. Milton's parents belonged to a group called the MENNONITES. The peace loving group, came from Switzerland. The group fled from Switzerland because they did not believe in war. In Switzerland every abled man had to serve in the army. In effect The Mennonites fled to America. The Mennonites didn't believe in entertainment. They didn't read for pleasure, dance, play cards, or go to the movies. The Hershey's were poor. His dad, Henry Hershey was a farmer and his mom taught children the at a local school. She taught them the GOLDEN RULE-treat others as you want to be treated

As Milton grew he got into chocolate. Milton then started the chocolate business, Lancaster Carmels, and eventually started the HERSHEY CORPORATION. He married Katherine Hershey[Kitty], in May 1898 in New York City. Two months after their 17th anniversary Kitty died in March 1915. As World War II ended, Milton Snavley Hershey ended his 80 years of life, after spreading his sale of chocolates and their name around the world.
